Default Laptop wifi constantly hangs/drops every 5 minutes or so

As of about a week ago, the wifi on my Win10 HP laptop has been constantly hanging (webpages won't load, or load properly) or dropping out completely. Switching airplane mode on and off again gets it started 100% of the time, although it will generally only last 5minutes tops.

This happens on both my home and work network yet my phone will have no trouble with either connection. Sometimes the wifi will change to "limited connection", sometimes "no connection" and sometimes the symbol won't change at all. Troubleshooting it generally brings up nothing although it did once and showed this Click image for larger version.

As as result of this I tried all the fixes/changes listed here and here with no luck.

Nothing new has changed lately as far as I know in terms of updates etc. Have checked and updated all drivers.

Wifi adapater is a Broadcom 802.11 wireless network adapter.

Sorry not sure what other info to post, but any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

I had a similar problem with Vodafone so changed to Spark. I am not sure if it wasn't a modem problem though. With Spark sending me their modem I have had no problems since. Maybe you should contact your ISP and see if it is a modem fault!

Open a command prompt as admin and type netsh Winsock reset . See if it fixes it. It looks like a lot of people had this prob with the previews of Win10

Are you using a wireless mouse with this notebook?

I am. Different mouse at work than at home however both Logitech wireless. How could this be causing it?

Remove the receiver for a bit and see. Unlikely that's it, but they do run on roughly the same frequencies. I've seen it a few times before, not with logitech receivers, but generic no-name cheap ones.

A good way to test it is to start a ping to your modem (ping 192.168.1.1 -t) or replace 192.168.1.1 with the IP of your modem, then plug the receiver in and watch the ping times, see if they change.

Have you checked to ensure you have the latest driver

    http://support.hp.com/nz-en/document/c04649175
Paste this into Chrome or Internet explorer etc

I had problems with wifi from my HP laptop about 2 months ago (always seemed to occur when my wife was on it lol, I normally use a desktop)
I used a wifi analyzer app on my phone and all looked ok but when I checked the diagnostics in the modem I noted the actual rate on the wifi 2.4Ghz band from the laptop at the time was less than 2Mbps.
Normally it was around 39Mbps given that the laptop is in another room.
I dont have the 5Ghz band on my laptop so could not try the 5Ghz band

I actually ended up resetting the modem as turning off the wifi in the modem and turning on again did not fix it.
I had to do it on 3 different occasions but for what ever reason it has settled down now.

After reading the info on the HP link above I might check later that the driver is up to date

I had a similar prob with the wireless on this.

Only diff is it's USB.After I unticked the option under power management in device and disabled USB selective suspend setting, (under the power plan I'm using in control panel), it hasnt disconnected once

Dont know if it'll fix your prob tho
