Laptop wifi constantly hangs/drops every 5 minutes or so

One thing to check on-- Have a look at your wireless connection, make sure it not set to Public, if its set to public you need to remove the connection and rejoin/reset to Private.
Had similar a while back, changing that one setting fixed it - in that case.

Have tried all of those fixes (was in the first post) as well as all the suggestions in this thread and so far still no fix. Currently isn't dropping out AS MUCH but still definitely dropping out every so often. Airplane mode on/off brings it straight back to life.

What appears if you highlight the wireless in network and sharing / properties / install / protocol? If Reliable Multicast Protocol appears here install it

Looks like older modems can cause this prob too. What's yours?

Was Win10 on this already? Or did you upgrade from something else / or do a clean install?

And if you installed a separate AV / firewall program, what is it?? Looks like some firewalls can also cause this prob. AVG is one of them

Yep already gone through and installed it.

Not sure tbh, the home and work one are both different.

Upgraded (not clean install) to Win10 when it first came out

Use Win firewall + Avast free.

The protocols missing means it'll either work, or it won't work. There's no need to mess about there.

It's most probably one of two things:
a) Interference on your machine, such as malware
b) Bad router

It's also possibly something in the laptop hardware itself, but I'm gonna suggest either of those two are more likely so follow them up first.

MalwareBytes showed nothing.

Two different routers (work and home) both used to work fine, neither has changed.
