    Default Prefered Laptop manufacturer?

I am thinking of getting a laptop. I know many of you have preferred/disliked manufacturers. Could anyone advise what I should be going for?

    I was thinking of 64bit, 4G or 8G Ram, 500G HDD, Intel i5 or i7.

I quite like myself the HPs for the last few years, pretty solid units all around. Same for the Chromebooks. Avoid the Acers IMO, cheap for a reason.

    Lenovo.

Not cheap rubbish, sold lots of them, never had a hardware problem. I say hardware because software no matter who the manufacture is will play up at some point.

I've only ever had Asus and Toshiba. My first Asus developed a faulty hard-drive, but the warranty service was brilliant - the workshop detected a potrential problem with the graphics card and replaced that too. Delivery to and from the factory was seamless and fast.

    So I would recommend both.

I have a Dell Vostro which is 6 years old and has never had a hardware problem. The battery is shot now but still works.
I also have a Lenovo Thinkpad which has never had any problems. Both have Intel processors.
If you already have a lot of old software maybe 32bit with 4GB Ram would be better, 64bit with 8GB Ram if you are buying new software.
