    Default TV On Demand

I was hoping to be able to watch TV on demand on my Sony Xperia tablet.
But neither TVNZ or TV3 will work.
TVNZ wants shockwave flash, but still wont work, with it installed.
TV3 wants the 3now app, but still wont work.
However Choice TV works perfectly without any extra apps.
Can even watch it on my old Galaxy mobile.

Google abandoned flash on android so getting it working can be problematic. I'm surprised you could even load it, I had to sideload the apk on my old tablet. All you can try is installing other browsers, not all of them work with flash so you need the right combination of browser/flash version/tablet to work. Good luck.

I like android but went with a windows tablet when I replaced my ageing nexus and don't regret it. It may not be quite as well touch optimised and take up more space, but being windows pretty much all websites work without any major drama.

Probably not using flash, could be html 5 or similar. The problem with the internet in general is there are multiple standards and site owners don't necessarily update when standards change. Google/Android have decided flash is outdated and dropped support but it's still fairly commonly found on websites.

There is an android app for TVNZ on demand, but I think it's only officially available on certain tablets (probably samsung). I seem to recall sideloading it onto my Nexus succesfully though, used a samsung device to extract the apk then ran it on the nexus. Did the same thing for lightbox as well before they added more device support.
Try searching the app store, if it doesn;t show up your device is not officially supported.

A similar weird issue is with Netflix which needs silverlight to work under IE or FF and won't work in an android browser generally but using the netflix app or chrome browser works because they use HTML 5 which Netflix also supports but not for the other browsers.

    answer: HTML5

perhaps ask TVNZ or TV3 themselves why they wont work, and what they are doing about it : ie when will they get out of the past with vid support

Choice TV looks interesting, I never knew it existed .
