    Default Stupidity

It amazes me that people don't take time to think. Or research.

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/7188...-sales-tactics

"Taylor himself signed them up to Intagr8 about six months ago after a 45-minute sales pitch, in which they claim he offered to take the owner, Megan's father Mike, out on his launch for a fishing trip and offered to "throw in" a plasma TV, two laptops and a laser jet colour printer.

"The paperwork was done there and then," Shirley said. "We said 'we should read the paperwork', to which Taylor said 'you want to waste your time reading this rather than going fishing?' There was laughter all around and the signature was given."

They were shocked when they found $460 had been direct debited from their account, even though they'd only been given one phone line instead of the promised three and the electronic gear hadn't arrived.
They didn't think they'd signed an authority for a direct debit, but later learned it was in the fine print of the contract."

So some company says sign up...we'll give you presents.
Don't research them? See what their customer service is like? See what others experiences have been like?
Think about THEIR SERVICES with phone??? Or read a contract......Nah....they'll get a TV....

    And they are business owners.

When I had my shop, the first power bill I got, I was shocked to find tit over $400. And I used less power than at home.
A careful read showed I was being charged for 3 phase power, calls to power and lines company showed as the building had originally been a bakery or something, it had been like that and never changed.

I got my bill altered to normal rates, but I asked the neighbouring businesses - Bill Englishs office and a hair dresser, if they had also been charged 3 phase?

Both of them said they just paid the bill and never read it.
Really?? Especially the hairdresser - what was her bill like??!!

There is a never ending supply of stupid people. They are farmed by conmen of all kinds and some make a very good living out of them.

    1. I thought direct debit forms could only be provided by your bank. Perhaps some banks only allow authorized debit forms. They should...
    2. No way to exit a contract? Has to be a workaround or some kind of exit strategy Sign with another provider/supplier to get them to pay debts first. Like what some finance companies do for those with multiple loans. If you don't pay then what? Will they sue? Plead with you? To avoid bad publicity.

Perhaps fresh Afrikaners are too trusting of NZ's, it seems by his wife. We kiwis don't do that do we? Not be straight up, deceive, or tell lies, and/or make confusing promises it seems.

There's more to Intagr8 that meets the eyes. Stuff has only scratched the surface on them..
