    Default Facebook question

SWMBO has facebook and uses the browser on her phone as she has her FB account set to Not send email notifications due to the high volume of traffic with a group she is in.

If she went to the FB app can you also turn off notifications as she doesn't want her phone continuously sending her alerts?

    I can't advise as don't have FB.

    Thanks

Should be an option in the settings somewhere to disable push alerts.

    From Facebooks FAQ: https://www.facebook.com/help/103859036372845

How do I turn push notifications on or off from your mobile phone or tablet?

To get push notifications, you'll first need to turn them on from your phone or tablet's settings.

    Android

    Tap and scroll down
Tap Account Settings > Notifications > Mobile Push
Check the things you want to be notified about or uncheck the things you don't want to be notified about
    iPhone

    Open your phone's Settings
    Tap Notifications Center > Facebook
Set your Alert Style to Banners or Alerts
Slide Show in Notification Center to green
Slide Show on Lock Screen to green
To adjust your push notifications or turn them off, go to your Facebook app settings:

    Tap More and scroll down
Tap Settings > Notifications > Mobile Push
Check the things you want to be notified about or uncheck the things you don't want to be notified about
    iPad

If you want to get push notifications, first turn them on from your iPad’s settings:

    Open your settings by tapping
    Tap Notifications > Facebook
Set your Alert Style to Banners or Alerts
Slide Show in Notifications to green
Slide Show on Lock Screen to green
To adjust your push notifications or turn them off, go to your Facebook app settings:

    Tap and scroll down
Tap Settings > Notifications > Mobile Push
Check the things you want to be notified about or uncheck the things you don't want to be notified about
    Feature phones

You can only turn on push notifications on certain types of feature phones.

To turn push notifications on or off:

From your app's home screen, click Menu
    Select Settings > Push Notifications
Click to check or uncheck Push Notifications

A guide for making my nexus 7 (2012) perform better under lollipop said to remove the facebook app and use the mobile website instead to free up resources and increase battery life. Apparently the app is constantly checking for updates regardless of settings and can be a contributing factor to poor battery life and slow performance.

I don't know how bad it really is or how much truth is in that but I can tell you following the recommendations made my nexus 7 run a whole lot better after lollipop slowed it down to basically unusable. Guide here if you want to read through it https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...GFbQa2pK1E/pub

I can't stress this one enough!!! Too many Nexus 7 users having problems with performance are using the Facebook App that Facebook has in Google Play store. This can not be a coincidence. I -HIGHLY!!- recommend that you un-install the Facebook App itself, and use Facebook with a browser such as Firefox or Ghostery until you stabilize your Nexus 7, and/or until Facebook updates their application. Some users have reported great success using the App "Tinfoil for Facebook", available on Google Play, for Facebook. You may also want to try "Facebook Lite" which appeared on Google Play recently
