WD ext drive problem

Long shot but wonder if someone has any idea what would cause my ext WD Essentials 1TB USB2 drive to shut down a few seconds after winding up.

Does the same on a couple of other drives so it is in the interface board. Both 5V and 12V are there at all times so it doesn't seem to be a voltage problem. Must be some signal/condition not being met, I guess.

The drive is fine so I will just flag this issue and use it as an internal drive. Better result than a stuffed drive of course!

But I am just wondering what might have happened.

The problem is not uncommon - Internal circuit board on external case fails ( various reasons) while the actual HDD is in perfect working condition.

It is just god's work like a lot of computer ills!

Got a new INTERNAL TB drive!
