Close and remove the account. If you dont want to do that, then you need to go into facebook, and alter the mail/notification settings.

There are many similar sites, Explaining the same process. Worked for me. One key thing to remember is that if you try logging in again before the 14 days are up, your account will be automatically reinstated.

Im not going to deactivate mine, BUT:

To deactivate your account:
Click the account menu at the top right of any Facebook page.
Select Settings.
Click Security in the left column.
Choose Deactivate your account then follow the steps to confirm.

Follow the Arrows, Green/Red/Red
