If you go full replacement look for thermally broken frames, aluminium can't really do this very well but Upvc can do it excellently. Upvc can now be made that looks just like timber too.

I asked a couple of vendors at recent local Home and Garden show to give me a rough idea of the price. They said an average 3-bdrm house would typically be between $12-15,000.

Nope. All been put on the back burner until job situation improves. Although a work colleague has just ordered some for his two bed flat. He has gone upvc inserts. 7 windows was around the 7 grand mark. Thermal frames was the company. Also the only company that specified argon. It seemed a superior product comparing to the aluminum window insert. and not much difference in price. Will grab the prices off him next week. Thermal frame were the only company that broke the prices down to individual prices.
