Default Graphics - Integrated vs dedicated some advice please.

Hi, I know dedicated graphics are better than integrated but I'm confused with the R5 & R7 etc. Im looking at a ASRock AMD FM2+ FM2A68M-HD+ Mobo which has Integrated AMD RadeonT R7/R5 Series Graphics in A-series APU but wondering if a Sapphire R5 230 1G DDR3 PCI-E Video card will give better performance. I am running 8Gb RAM in the system so can share 1 or 2Gb of system memory no problems with the video. The video spec I require are listed as 512 MB OF VIDEO MEMORY ATI RADEON HD 2600/NVIDIA GEFORCE 8600 OR HIGHER. What is the view of the integrated video on the Mobo above handling these specs?? Trying to keep to a strict budget so advice of upgrades to the moon are appreciated but not welcome Cheers

Best option is to look up the specs of the CPU you are considering, get the name of the GPU it has, then google the name of your intended software followed by that GPU name and see what people have to say. It's difficult to make recommendations unless you tell us what software / APU combinations you are considering but as a reference from here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ew,3107-7.html the gaming performance of a 7660D in my slightly older A10 5800K is significantly higher than that of a HD 2600 which seems to be roughly equivalent to a 6520-6530D so it will depend what APU you get.

I'd personally say just try it without a graphics card first and if it's not up to the job get one later. AMD integrated graphics are usually good enough for most things except Hi Res 3D gaming and they are getting close to being good enough for that too.

    Go here:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ew,3107-7.html

This is the ranking chart. Top line the ultimate, bottom line the pits.

Everything on a line is equivalent.
    Choose that way.....
