Oh it definitely happens with Linux. I have never said Linux is perfect, or the be-all-end-all.
I used Gentoo Linux for approx. five years - until I got sick of things breaking on update - you would reboot to a black command line screen from your previous wonderful GUI 2 hours ago.
The difference that you seem to overlook is that Linux is (for most distributions) freeware, Windows is something that has to be paid for. If you were given a prototype car for free, you would expect problems. If you brought a brand new latest version car, one would expect that you could get it through it's first service without any hiccups.
