How much should I be paying for Laptop RAM?

My HP 6710b currently has 2GB ram, Speccy shows it's two 1GB sticks. I want to upgrade it to 4GB as I'm upgrading the whole thing, first a new battery (which I've just ordered) and later on a larger hard drive.

What's the going rate for 2x 2GB sticks of Laptop RAM these days? and should use a particular brand?

You may not have a lot of choice. being DDR2 its getting a bit long in the tooth now. Also not all laptop RAM works on All Laptops. So what ever you get make sure you ask if it can be returned if they say it will work on your laptop and it doesn't.

Batt + RAM + SSD.......
on a 5+ year old laptop.....that model 1st came out approx 2007 (still seems OK spec wise)

May be better off to buy a new/used i3 ??

True, at least if you got an SSD you could potentially transfer it to a new laptop down the track unlike the battery/ram.

Sweet, It should be, but it doesn't hurt to try.

I will be ending up getting a newer laptop probably later next year, but I'm just upgrading this one a bit to last me, and I'll pass it on to my mum once I no longer need it, as her systems crap.
