Hmmm, I used my Nexus 7 wifi 2012 to talk to a friend in Uraguay using Skype for a period of about 5 hours.
At the end of the conversation I realized the battery was getting low so powered down completely in order to recharge the next day.
During the time that I was talking I saw many updates to various apps on the device. Didn't notice if Lollipop was part of the updates just approved all, stupid.
Come next day, yesterday, and the Nexus 7 is a brick, won't power up and doesn't even show the normal charging battery symbol on the screen, like previously, even if it is not powered up.
Wondering if there is some sort of fuse on the usb 5volt charging port which has blown from over-current since the battery was almost out of charge and probably well down in voltage.
Anybody have any comments? Could it have updated to Lollipop and bricked itself or is it a hardware fault? What does the bricking entail, endless looping or no boot, no activity at all?

It's not the least charm of a theory that it is refutable. The hundred-times-refuted theory of "free will" owes its persistence to this charm alone; some one is always appearing who feels himself strong enough to refute it - Friedrich Nietzsche
I've been fooled but how long you have to hold the power button in to get them to start powering up, it's not just that ? takes a good 6 seconds or more to see a response from memory.
Ryzen 2700X, 16Gb DDR4RAM, 512GB M.2 NVME SSD, MSI GTX1070
Thanks dugimodo, just grabbed it and pressed button for longer than 6 secs a number of times, no life whatsoever, I think battery is flat and is not getting charged, have tried prescribed charger and running it off my computer, no charge symbol and no activity at all.
Will try dismantling and repair option soon, according to uTube is easy to dissemble.

Lollipop is now installing on my Nexus 4. Normal OTA
All went OK. Only app that seems affected is "Swift Key"
Before you dismantle it try this. Place a strip of stiff paper on top of the micro charger connecter as you plug it into the tablet. This tightens the connection and may be all you need to do to get it to charge. That works for my wife's Nexus 7.Thanks dugimodo, just grabbed it and pressed button for longer than 6 secs a number of times, no life whatsoever, I think battery is flat and is not getting charged, have tried prescribed charger and running it off my computer, no charge symbol and no activity at all.

If the battery voltage dropped low enough the battery protection circuit may disable charging to prevent fire upon recharging as lithium batteries can become internally shorted if they are left discharged below a certain level for too long - but I wouldn't expect this to have happened here. Thanks dugimodo, just grabbed it and pressed button for longer than 6 secs a number of times, no life whatsoever, I think battery is flat and is not getting charged, have tried prescribed charger and running it off my computer, no charge symbol and no activity at all.
