    Default Photo enhancer program

I have used Paint Shop Pro 5 for many years, but it isn't compatible with Win 7 which I have just installed.

Can anyone suggest a free, simple program for cropping and simple adjustments to photos. I had a look at Picassa
but is is far to complicated for what I want. Thanks.

Theres a Few free ones available, Gimp is Free http://www.gimp.org/

Other places (giveaway Sites) often have these type of programs for a limited time. http://www.topsoftbargains.com/w/zon...t-coupon-code/ If you want to try it,its Free for a limited time, you need to make a Free account, but whats to lose ?

For real basic editing, why not just use Paint & Windows Photo Gallery ( its included in Windows). If photo gallery is not installed you can add it free by downloading Windows Essentials (you can select what products you want when installing) http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w.../photo-gallery

Irfanview would probably do what you want. I've had Paint Shop Pro 8 since Win XP days but it also runs in Windows 7 and 8, if you can get hold of a copy.

Thanks guys, that should see me right. I have my daughter staying with me for a few days and am trying to sort some stuff out for her. I do
have access to a Paint Shp Pro 8, which I lost in a recent crash, but can't get it for a couple of weeks. I'll have a look at your suggestions, tks again.

Did you try a new install of PSP5? I've had PSP4.15 running on Windows 7 so maybe 5 would install ok.
Either go where you're looking or look where you're going!

I use IrfanView mostly, but use a French program called PhotoFiltre for other tools and alternates not available in IrfanView, both are free. You can pay for an even more advance version of PhotoFiltre if you need it.

    +1

Also really like PolyView (also free), and use an older version of Photoshop which is free (can't recall right now where I downloaded it from, but completely legit), as well as Gimp.

You can tell I like "free"

Loaded the Windows Essential tool as a stopgap....is doing the basic job I needed, tks for that.

I attempted the PSP 5 but got an incompability message right away so gave up on that.

I would have thought Paint Shop Pro would be more advanced than Picasa...

I would recommend Gimp as a free alternative to Paint Shop Pro, pretty much the same feature set anyway.
Non-system disk or disk error. Replace and strike any key when ready.
