Default 2x2 gig Ram modules seem hard to get

I have Widows 7 32 bit and have 2x2gig Ram modules.

One of them seems to have stopped working.

It seems hard to find replacement pairs - lots of 2x4gig

Is a single 4gig module OK?

You really need to have a look at the MB manual to see just what memory is supported.

+1 or google the motherboard and find out online what it supports.

DDR2 or DDR3? and does the motherboard have limitations as to what size RAM chips it can take? These are the questions you need answered first. But yes 1 4GB RAM chip is fine as long as it's supported. It'll be a little slower in theory but not really noticeable in practice.

Are you sure it's the RAM and not the motherboard?, tried swapping the chips around, removing and reseating them, tried each by itself in each slot, etc?

Playtech and PBTech both have 2GB DDR3 sticks available, about $40 for one or $60 for a pair.
