    Default Quickflix

re Quickflix? appears to be a streaming site so to me you have to watch the movie straight away - no downloading to the HDD to watch at one's leisure - does anyone have any comments?

Have a read of the FAQ http://www.quickflix.co.nz/FAQs Covers everything, including the system requirements Eg Microsoft Silverlight.

Having a GOOD internet connection speed will work better as there wont be any need to buffer whats playing.

I tried it, selection was naff and the quality was roughly a little worse than my first h.263 XviD movie encodes some 9-odd years ago now. Was thoroughly disappointed.

Netflix quality was significantly better with a far wider selection! I can't recall why I gave up Netflix in the end?

If you have a Tivo you can download and watch later same as on Apple TV.. The problem with QuickFlix is that all their content seems to be still SD..

HD is supposed to be coming at some point, but I cancelled my account already. Selection and quality was the issue. I tried it on PS3 and it was slow and horrible to use, have a feeling that TV's and TiVo will be less than Ideal as well. Did work well enough on a PC but that doesn't save it for me.

I was liking the windows 8 Video app until recently renting a movie and having it refuse to play. If you chose the streaming option it doesn't let you change your mind and go back to the download it first then watch it option. I also tried Google's streaming service and had the same issue - with the same movie. I'm wondering if the servers were just too busy as it had just been released.

After paying to watch it twice and having it fail on both services I downloaded a copy and watched it - maybe not legal but they got 2 rentals out of me as is so I don't feel guilty. When will they figure out that until the legit service is at least as good as the pirate one they will lose a lot of customers.

But anyway, the point is if you are doing it from a PC both Google and MS have pay per view options with no monthly subscription that do stream in HD legally in NZ. If you want to use TiVo or a TV you are probably stuck with Quickflix in SD with a monthly fee. They do have a lot of older content for free though I think if you are into that sort of thing.

Really? Can I ask what the movie was, and your ISP?

Well, don't Judge me. It was the Veronica Mars movie.
I think there may be a video driver issue with my Media PC causing occasional issues with win 8, it's worked perfectly in the past when I purchased and downloaded a movie to test it though.
As for the google It just wouldn't play, worked right up until the final stage then just kept telling me to try again later.

Tried on 2 different PC's on both services, gave up and downloaded it.
