Default Cellphone for a 90-year old

My antique friend is needing something to help him remember when to take his medication etc. I was thinking that an appropriate cellphone might do the trick. His current one is (almost) as antique as he is and does nothing apart from calls.

Can anyone recommend a simple to use phone that is not too expensive and has a calendar/alarm facility? He has no need for fancy apps or wi-fi or any sort of data - just calls and reminders.

    Any ideas?

Suggest no so-called smartphones cos of their short battery life. Almost any modern regular phone will do more than he needs.
Bugger the cancer. I'm suffering from terminal inertia.

They look good - thanks. I'm not sure they are exactly right for him though, as we would want to set up other alarms/reminders as well.

OK, that's interesting. I knew my own phone (Nokia N63) could do it, but I wasn't sure how general that was outside the smartphone category. I'll check his phone when I next see him - maybe his can actually do it already.

Yeah, wasn't sure if a cell phone would just over complicate the matter/ to easy to muck up.

I absolutely agree - simplicity and ease of use are paramount. He does know how to use his current phone, so I'll check that out first to see if it will do the job.

A LG GU285 sounds about right for the job, and a good price. Search them on geekzone.co.nz and parallelimported.co.nz . I would have put links up, but they don't seem to translate onto the page very well, with the latest Opera browser version.

My dad has it. He likes it. For someone who doesn't know how to SMS, email or use the computer. You can change the fonts larger, put a color over the text like a bright orange. You can set it so it rings a tone after each hour and set it between hours so it doesn't do it in the early mornings. The buttons are large too.

Sounds good. Are they generally available, or only via parallel import?
