Coldness that extreme is pretty scary.

Most people in the very cold areas should already have alternatives to electricity for their heating (gas/oil), as relying solely on an overburdened electrical system is very risky, plus power cables weighted with ice at risk of faulting... it's a potential for entire states to freeze to death if people don't have their 'backup heating' in place when the power goes out.

Then there's all the drama with broken pipes. Plumbers and panelbeaters will think all their christmas's have come at once.

Anybody trapped in a car may face death. It's not like they can hike more than 10 mins for help if they'll be frostbitten within 5 mins of leaving the car.

They've heard of it? Seems not too dissimilar from Europe?
My mum was going to go there - but it was a long wait in the refugee camp, she saw a poster for NZ - next day so she came. Knew nothing about the place.

Do they. Well when they have decided they can get back to me.

Science is great when done right. The idea is to observe - for a LONG time, not 5 minutes - then test your observations and have others do so too. Once the results are in you have a theory. Not a "we now know everything".

Not lets get an idea and then fiddle the stats to fit the idea, which happens far too much these days in a lot of areas of science.

In planetary terms we haven't been measuring for more than 5 minutes. Yes the planet changes, often - in geological terms.
So maybe hotter air leads to ice. Or maybe it doesn't. Maybe there's a lot of other factors involved. Maybe we're getting ahead of ourselves too.
