Just wondered after I was unable to find a picture of a particular native plant online whether or not there exists an effort by any big company like google to categorise all living things on earth the same way they have done with aerial photography of the planet. It would be quite neat to have an interactive map (name, family, genus, etc. with at least a picture) showing all known life forms (species of plant, animal, etc.) and perhaps a history done in family tree style showing how we understand they have all evolved. Perhaps this would require more data capacity than google earth does even?
