    Go to the tiny drop-down arrow by the red "ask" symbol in the search bar and choose another search ie Google if available.

    Ah that is not the ask toolbar, that has just changed your default search engine

    Using that same drop down choose "Manage Search Engines" and highlight and remove those you do not want ie ASK
