    Default Gas bottles

I have accumulated a number of 9kg gas bottles, suitable for the bbq and portable heaters.

Does anyone no how long these can be used? do they have a use by date?

what is the most effeicient way to get them filled? do a swappa bottle or just a ordinary fill?

    thanks

Im not trying to be difficult it just comes naturally.

They need to be checked out every few years and recertified for use Beetle. It is probably easiest to just got the "Swap a Bottle" route and let whoever worry about the safety certification side of it.

They need to be checked every ten years. They should have a date stamped on them to say when they were last checked.

Is anyone able to tell me how much a swap a bottle mite cost? I havent seen them advertised round here, i think my local petrol station does it though.

Yeah swap them, re-certifying costs as much or more as a new bottle in many cases.
The swap a bottle outfits have their own testing and certifying facilities so they can do it cheaply which is why they don't really care if a bottle is certified or not - they won't take obviously rusty or damaged bottles though (other than minor surface rust).

Expensive though, and a hassle in my opinion. For my occasional BBQ I'm going back to charcoal, tastes better anyway.

A couple of months ago I had a bottle filled at a Caltex station
for $27. Last year I did a swap at Mitre 10 for $34.50.
I am in the Auckland area which may mean a difference in pricing.

none of my bottles are old, i think they were all new or nearly new around 2007 - 2008. they still look nice and shiny. but covered in dust and empty!

i will give swap a bottle a go, and try to remember to take one next petrol fill up time..

and relearn how to use a bbq.....lol since my cheif is here no more to use it for me
