There is a certain database type website that list a particular line of business worldwide.
One of the listed business's in this country shows an old phone number which is now used by their opersition.
Would be nice to get this changed.
The original business which placed the entry on the website has since gone belly up.
Neither the new owner of the business or the opersition has the username or password to make changes to the listing.
Efforts to contact the website via the given email have been unsucessful.
An attempt to create a new user got a automated reply, stating "an email has been sent to you with login details"
This was never received.
Don't want to reveal the website.
A search on "who is" for the website gives a contact in Spain.

Any ideas on this.

How handy for the opposition, that way they get the old companies customers ringing them.
Can't see a problem.

However, if it bothers them, they can just change their phone number.

Maybe contact the Spanish embassy in Wellington to see if they can locate the adminstrator/company of the business directory. I did similar with the NZ Japanese embassy for what I believed was a fake online company that kept sending me emails to seemingly launder money through their accounts. They never replied to my emails, but soon stopped sending them after I asked the Japan embassy to look into it.

The opposition is quite happy the way it is.
The phone number had actually been disconnected through non payment.
They cranked it up again to their advantage.
They even have it listed in the phone book under the new companies name.

I seem to remember a year or two ago that there was a problem with Google getting business addresses and phone numbers wrong.

I don't think that will work in this situation.
This would be more like changing a entry in the internet yellow pages.
Not a problem if you can log in.
