Default New Zealand Intl Air Show

I read about this on the Wings site.

There seems a lot of scepticism whether or not this event is really going to happen. Detractors point out its timing is too close to Avalon to attract any major sponsorship or participation by exhibitors. Funding by NZ Defence would have been in place aeons ago, and there's no reported funding by the City to attract any major Anniversary Day display over the harbour.

Most flying types in my circle I've spoken to are in the dark as well. For a "major" display only weeks away, the apparent lack of forward planning and publicity is mystifying.

Does any member of this Forum have anything to say on this?

    The Show site is HERE

I have very high hopes that seriousness is a reversible condition.

Defence sure wouldnt have enough money. Ticket prices would have to be high to cover those L39s

Just looking at the North Shore Aero Clubs event calendar for January 2013, not even a mention of it. I think on the same weekend is the Great Northern Air Race. Was not there an air show a few years ago that was publicly advertised but for reasons I cannot remember never took place.

The Wings people seem confused as to whether or not its Ardmore or North Shore. But then they're mostly Air Force types.

(Runs for cover to avoid barrage of old pistons, flat tyres, assorted fuselage bits and pieces. And gloves.)

Herr Schultz would be turning in his grave at the thought of his beagle swearing.

It's not weeks away. There is still 10 weeks to go. Is Avalon the Australian airshow (????) which is a month later.
