    Default Thunder in CHCH

Pretty impressive thunder and lightning here in Christchurch. Didn't get a photo of the hail but it was pretty large. Also got a better one which is too large, I'll downsize it and upload it later. Anyone else got pics?

So what laid the egg ... a pullet, a hen, a kiwi, an ostrich, or ...

Whatever, the egg came off pretty lucky not to get smashed into oblivion with those two landing so close to it ...

It was a Moa egg borrowed from a museum to better allow you to get an idea of the size of the hail

Nice photo Nick - wish I could take pics like that. I was driving home from a clients in it, it was damn noisy, and hard to see the road from the bright flashes and heavy rain, it was quite scary.
