Default Removing adhesive streaks off TV?

    Hi everyone,

When we bought our TV recently, it had a sticker on the screen (grr) and after taking it off it's left some adhesive streaks which is noticeable sometimes.

What do you recommend I use to remove this? The lady at Dick Smiths where we bought the TV from couldn't be sure whether their one cleaning product would remove adhesives....

    Thanks
    Catherine

You need to be carefull here. Dont use a paper towel (it can leave tiny scratches), use a soft cloth or microfibre cloth
Anything strong enough to remove adhesive might also remove the coating off the screen.
Most 'screen' cleaners may be too week to get that adhesive off. Ive never had much luck with screen cleaners on grubby screens
Ive seen household cleaners dissolve the coating on screens , so dont be tempted .

Screen cleaners are generally a weak solution of isopropyl with some blue dye added, I think I found that out from another thread here a while back. You could probably just use a stronger solution and see how you go. I have a bottle of Philips screen cleaner Than came with a cloth that I've been using for several years that works pretty well for me but I've never really had adhesive marks to contend with.

It does depend a little whether it's a plastic or glass screen because glass is a bit tougher and easier to clean. Plasmas are Glass, LCDs are plastic but some have a protective glass sheet over them.

Noted thanks. The cloth that came with the TV do you reckon that would be ok? It looks like a softcloth....

    It's an LCD LED screen.

Sorry, I should clarify it's not actually sticky (the streaks), it's a line of rectangle streak left behind by the sticker's adhesive, if that makes sense

Supermarkets and hardware stores. Try a small test spot in a corner first.
