While everyone will remember The Andy Griffith Show, for me he made a huge impression in the film 'A Face in the Crowd' (8.1/10 on IMDB) The film was made in 1957, well before Mayberry, and is well worth watching if you can find a DVD at your local store. Did any others here see it?

I grew up watching Andy and from watching that show as a child I took a lot of lessons on how to be a better father from it.
A testament to the talent and heart of Andy Griffith.
    Very sad indeed.

Was reading last week about he got a medal from president bush. Matlock was a good folksy PI show he did, sometimes with his old mate Don Knotts. Sometimes played blues guitar on that series.

I've been a fan of his since I was a kid. He was awesome. I watched the Andy Griffith show every night before bed.

I used to enjoy watching the Andy Griffith show which was a sitcom about a widowed sheriff who never carried a gun. His deputy Barney always wore a gun but was not allowed to carry it loaded.

Will Stockdale is one of the most endearing characters Griffith portrayed.
