Angry possible faulty laptop battery, for the second time

whilst using my laptop, during a lecture, i noticed the capacity remaining was 83%.

a few minutes later, a warning comes up saying there is only 6% remaining

according to the HP battery check program, it says charge capacity:80%

and that the battery age is 575 days, warranty type 1 year

this battery replaced the previous one which did the exact same thing, coincidence?????

btw: laptop is HP dv5 1209ax
btw #2: the current battery is one of those super capacity ones(twice the size, so the laptop is raised up)

would it be replaced for nothing or do i have to fork another $100+ for a new battery or......?????

Sounds like a generic description of a dead battery to me.

The battery that just died is 575 days old? That seems reasonable. That's probably more than 300 cycles (which is the amount of cycles which the battery in the 2007 macbook apple said you should get, I have a friend who is on 1000+, I dunno how relevant that is to HP or whatever brand this battery is but its kind of the only thing I have to work on).

Yeah 6 months doesnt sound very good. I'd be after a replacement too.

there is one, but its from 2009, and it only addresses "Activates the hard drive security freeze lock feature during the Power-On Self Test (POST), which helps to prevent malware or third-party software from locking the hard drive without authorization after POST."
