Default What do you use to remove thermal paste from CPUs?

I've watched a number of youtube clips. Some suggest white spirits, and some alcoholic solution (I don't know the exact name). Because most are US videos, in NZ what are our equivalent solutions to the one's suggested?

I have no idea what White spirits are to its equavalent to NZ or AUS. Turpentine perhaps?

What do you use or reccomend?

Isopropyl alcohol on a soft cloth. Also use it for cleaning CD's or DVD's

You can get a small bottle from the chemists but they may look at you sideways because it is used in the manufacture of drugs.
Computers are like Air Conditioners, they stop working when you open Windows.

Methylated Spirits, just contains more alcohol compared to isopropyl.

Paper towels and isopropyl alcohol, I bought a CD cleaning kit years ago that came with a squirt bottle of isopropyl I've been using ever since. You need very little.

I just use meths from the chemist and a paper towel. You should only be touching the cpu and the heatsink... both are metal so no harm done

I believe you can get white spirits from hardware shops; but I may be wrong
