Default Greens get a deaf MP

Just heard the final election results.

I am a bit upset that we are gong to have a deaf MP. (even though most of the others are dumb)

It seems to me that the Greens were a bit irresponsible putting a deaf person on their list !

She is profoundly deaf, so how will she be able to listen to all the debates in parliament.
And we now have to pay for a full time translator !

Most other sorts of disabilities would be OK with me, but a law maker needs to be able to hear whats going on in the heat of debate and select committees etc .
So what colour is your Adkaf?

Guess we will also get an arm waving silent mouthing translator in the House too

PC correctness is alive and well in NZ.

    Big deal.

How many participants (is that is the correct word?) use it on a daily basis?

What about Polish, Indian, Samoan, Egyptian, Greek, French and so on??

I'm sure that there are more of them in NZ than deaf speakers.

    .
Sounds like an advantage to me, oblivious to the sniping and bickering, she can quietly sit and read through the important bits and miss the ****.

I see an opening for a "signer" ... probably around $150k pa + perks.

Wow Digby, that's all I can say.

What other jobs should a deaf person not be allowed to do then?
