    Default is this alright for me

    ok so im llooking at getting a laptop i am deciding between two at the moment and not sure if it willl be fine for what i want to do on it
    the tow i am looking at are

    i want to beable to game on it and play battle field 3, i know you might say why get a laptop if i want to game, i know i desktop would be better and easier to upgrade but i need the laptop for uni and have limmited funds so cant spend $1150 max.

    I know that both of those will run it but not sure how the graphics will be

    imo neither of the laptops meet the minimum. The 6490m isnt even close to the 8800GT min. If they could run it the graphics would be god awful.

    the 8800gt is a Nvidia the one i am looking at is a Radeon HD 6490M and min requirements are Radeon 3870 or higher

    6490m =/= 3870. It's a laptop. Graphics cards dont always go up in order and the "m" on the end means alot. Don't directly compare desktop graphics cards with laptop graphic cards without seeing the benchmarks.

    6490M scores a 644 here:

    The 3870 scores a 967, so I'd suggest looking for something better ...

    ^worth noting that the 8800GT scores 966. Making it basically identical in performance to the 3860. (In this test anyway). For $1150 you won't get a laptop good enough to run bf3 at remotely decent settings. If ea had their way they would have everyone spending that much on graphics cards alone (they recommended 2x580GTX's). I know you want a laptop for uni but seriously if you're going to game you need to get a desktop (on that budget anyway).
