    Default system tray

I am sight impaired so have a small program to enlarge the cursor. this prog starts automatically at bootup and thereon resides on the task bar.

The only way you can get it to run in the system tray instead of the task-bar is if the program is designed to do that.
Have you tried using the Accessibility features built into Windows? If these are set up they will run automatically, and not sit on your task bar.
