    Default Dick Smiths and Nortons

Was in DS yesterday advising a guy on some computer parts etc. He bought a laptop and the guy was very persistent in trying to convince me that Nortons was vastly improved. Do they end up getting commission when people pay after the free subscription. I know everyone here totally dislikes it but has it improved?
Computers are like Air Conditioners, they stop working when you open Windows.

They allways say the 'new version' is improved. They said that about 360
360 was a POS, especially on slower PC's
I guess it cant get any worse

To be fair, Norton's has improved over the last year or so. After 2003 it went downhill but it's no longer a system draining dog.

Having said that, I'm quite happy with Microsoft Security Essentials.

It certainly uses far less system resources than it used to in older versions., which is a nice improvement. Shame it's still not really very effective as an antivirus.

I think they get around 0.5% commission if my memory serves me correctly, but it adds up real quickly if you convince one person each day to buy the AV.
