Question what temps does your laptop get to?

I've found mine regularly gets to between 60-75 degrees(the cpu according to speedfan) whilst using it for web browsing, watching videos etc.

it sits on a wooden desk so airflow shouldn't? be a problem.

it does get quite warm though which is slightly worrying but hey.

Well my Asus Eee 701 runs about 52 degrees on idle (used to be higher until I upgraded the BIOS to one that had better fan control)

As for my Toshiba, the BIOS doesn't report the temperature (although I'm sure it knows it as you can hear the fan kick into high speed mode under high CPU load)

My friends BenQ runs even hotter than yours I think.

I think all laptops run rather hot, because of their useless space for decent cooling.

But if its a bit older, you should look into cleaning the heatsinks etc, that wouldn't help if they were dusty.

You may be able to get manual fan control with something like Speedfan

Otherwise you could always try the BIOS update for fun. I know I would (Although you may want to be sure you can downgrade again just in case)

i havent found any manual controls for the fans, i thought you could only control the fans on desktops??

i have to have a desktop fan on full pointed at my laptop to keep the temps down

You can control the fan speed on anything that has been designed to. Desktops are more likely to do that than laptops, though.

    Did you try Speedfan?

I think that 0% and no RPM readout means that the fans are uncontrollable (by Speedfan anyway)

But you could try putting each one to 100% and see if the fan increases speed...
