Gee I used to sell computers in the late 80's and remember when Duke Nukem first came out for IBM 386's (I think)

The kids used to love it. And Super Mario Brothers. I was more into Lemmings.

First game I played online (sorta)
Well, just via a modem dialing in directly to the other guy's home ph, No internet play back then.
Wasnt it sort of competing with Doom (better game, worse graphics).

But who cares. They cant make it anything like the original if they want it to sell. Its 10 years too late. Games have moved on.
Even Wolf's remake was nothing like the original (was just Wolf by name only)

Ahh, shareware. The memories.

I recall a game via modem play against a friend way back before the internet (ditto 1101). He lived in another town.
Still to this day was the best multiplayer game i have ever had. Period

There is a high res version around on the internet

I think you you played the orignal years later when dated it would seem very average. When released I can't remember anyone not loving it.

As long as DNF is tacky, no class, over the top and stupid, it should be a real winner!

There were 3 or more earlier Duke Nukem games that were 2D platform scrollers (ie tedious).
There is a world of difference between the 2D and 3D games.

Yes as a computer salesman, I remember the first time I saw Wolfenstein.
I could not believe the graphics and the way you could scroll around in those rooms.
I immediatly thought of architects and kitchen designers.

A friend of mine who was a programmer produced a map of each level on Wolfenstien on his dot-matrix printer.
