Default Why seniors should be jailed for life!

Let's put the seniors in jail and the criminals in nursing homes.
This would correct two major issues in one fell swoop:

Our Senior citizens would then enjoy:

Access to showers, hobbies and walks.
They would receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs, etc.
They would receive money instead of having to pay it out.
They would have constant video monitoring, so they would be helped instantly if they fell or needed assistance.
Bedding would be washed twice a week and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.
A staff member would check on them every 20 minutes.
All meals and snacks would be brought to them.
They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.
They would have access to a library, weight/fitness room, spiritual counseling, a pool, education...and free admission to in-house concerts by nationally recognised entertainment artistes.
Simple clothing - ie., shoes, slippers, pj's - and legal aid would be free, upon request.
There would be private, secure rooms provided for all with an outdoor exercise yard complete with gardens.
Each senior would have a P.C., T.V., phone and radio in their room at no cost.
They would receive daily phone calls.
There would be a board of directors to hear any complaints and a "Residents' Friends" group would fight for their rights and protection.
The guards would have a code of conduct, to be strictly adhered to, with attorneys available at no charge to protect the seniors and their families from abuse, neglect, or avaricious relatives.

    As for the criminals:

    They would receive cold food.
They would be left alone and unsupervised.
Medical attention would be infrequent and their families would have to pay any shortfalls.
They would receive showers once a week.
They would live in tiny rooms, for which they would have to pay $5,000 per month.
They would 'fall over' quite often and have bruises in unusual places, but nobody would give a toss.
They would have no hope of ever getting out alive.
Their families would have to pay refurbishing costs on their demise.

Transferring the bars and barbed wire would be no great problem.

    Sounds like justice to me!

    Cheers

Not all resthomes are like that. Just because some resthomes neglect their residents, it doesnt mean all of them do. How do I know. My flatmate used to work at one, as a registered nurse. And none of that happened

    Ha, not bad.

Pretty sure I saw somewhere that it would be cheaper to jump on a cruise ship instead of going into a rest home.

lol. It got me thinking of this old guy I saw yesterday who completely missed the driveway to the orthodontist's place, I was like "Why is that guy allowed to drive?" he reversed and missed it twice as I was walking past on the other side of the road (thankfully)

Not all events are due to neglect though, I looked after an old lady for many years (no relation, just a friend) and she was in a quality environment with excellent care but occasional problems occurred. Similarly when my mother was in a unit in a retirement village, aspects of her care caused occasional concern, but most were attributable to staff/resident ratios when a full roster of staff was not available.

It would not be fair or proper to attribute resident neglect to all resthomes, but for sure there are some shonky examples out there.

My post was, of course, intended as a joke in its entirety.

    Cheers

You know what? The way how jail works is that, while being able to restrict prisoners' freedom, also serves as an incentive for them to stay, and don't jail-break.

If we switch over... I guess we'll have lots of cases where prisoners escape jails.
The problem with Linux for an average user is that the hardware either worked with Linux out of the box, or it most likely won't work at all.
