b type usb cable

recently acquired an old epson printer with a b-type usb connection.

our modem has the same connection so i assume we can use it as a print server of sorts(d-link 502T gen 2)??.

not sure if dick smith smith has the cable needed but gonna check on tuesday.

if not where can i get a cable from?

What? All printers have a USB B cable.
The modem does not have a print server built in - that connector you see is an alternate means of connecting it to your PC (instead of ethernet). If it had a print server it would have the A type USB socket in it.

i could just get an A type to B type cable and connect it directly to the desktop, yeah?

Err NO. Not if its a 502T.

If its the same as This modem/Router the USB connection is not a printer port, its as PCTek said,its a "alternate means of connecting it to your PC (instead of Ethernet)" Picture from Manual tells you what each port does.

An Example of a router with a printer port -- Look in the description on the right or its Manual Picture

i mean connect the printer TO the desktop with the usb cable

If its only to the printer>PC then yeah a A-B standard printer cable as speedy linked the picture A one end, B the other.

As where to get one, lots of places have them, any computer shop "should" or even places like the warehouse have them.
