Default Mute Volume Control on startup (XP)

Hi, All. I am running XP. Often my kids will have been playing something with volume attached and they have the VC wound up. They finish, turn off and then when I start up first thing in the morning (or sometimes in the middle of the night), I am blasted by the Windows sound or something else, which also distrubs other dwellers.

Is there a way of ensuring that the VC is set to 'Mute' or no volume, on shutdown automatically, or automatically on start up, which doesn't rely on my kids doing it?

    Cheers.

If the icon for it appears in the taskbar, move the slider to the bottom. Or remove its command from startup. Or go to control panel / sounds and kill it

    Disable the logon sound.

Thanks. I'll give those a try. SG: I'm trying to avoid human intervention so that it occurs automatically. Merry Xmas.

Thanks, All. No can do, Ned. Speakers are integrated into monitor. However, have found this with several suggestions - http://www.pcworld.com/article/68776..._controls.html Cheers.
