Default PC not stable with OC

This isnt really worrying me but I have my computer OC'd, just over 4ghz. I've stressed it and everything is stable but since I've had it overclocked (About a month) I've had bluescreens.

My computer is on 24/7, but the bluescreens happen maybe twice a week and thats it. I could be doing anything, was just watching a video and it bluescreened. I've gamed for hours on the OC and its been fine.

Any idea what could cause that? I thought maybe I needed to let my ram go a bit, just seems odd

I didnt say it was bad, (I wouldnt care less, its not mine).Tell us WHAT the BSOD's say, it may be something else (not the OC thats causing it). Could be codecs if you've installed any. Since codecs (depending on WHICH ones) can crash a system. And some are dodgy. And its happening more when watching videos (if you mean dvds)

I think what speedy is saying is that the bluescreens are most likely due to the overclocking.
Remove any overclocking and run the machine at stock settings for a week and see if the bluescreens continue.
If they do then yoy must have some hardware/software fault.
If they don't then try overclocking again but try smaller amount and test for a week.

Thanks, Il take note of the next bluescreen, whenever that may be. I am still using Win7 RC on that computer so could also be something to do with that?

Just because extensive Prime95 and Linpack testing says the OC is safe, it's not a guarantee unfortunately. I've seen some people who says that although they've passed up to a few days of Prime95 with their overclock, that their problems (such as BSoDs) disappear completely when the OC is knocked back a bit.
    Meh....

From what ive seen though 4ghz on the 860 isnt exactly impressive, just seemed like a nice round number so i was happy to leave it there.

    Maybe I lucked out

Each chip is different man....you have to accept that. I'm hoping my 920 is a good one.

Why would you want to overclock it? PC running slow? Want more gaming grunt?

I wouldn't bother OCing until it can't handle games at max settings etc.. i'm sure it runs fine not overclocked
    :(
