How do you go about enlisting your website/service/product on search engine(s). Never done it before so would like to know what the costs (if any) and any suggestions on how to get started.

Many search engine homepages have details on how to add your site details to their list, and you can also use services like 'Add Me' (http://www.addme.com/)to spread it over more than one at a time.
