Question Ordering direct from HP US

Is there any way I can order a notebook directly from HP (US)? I've been told that HP NZ doesn't stock it, and the pricing actually seems to be better from the US than from Australia.

And if I could order it from the US, are there any issues I'm likely to run into? Other than the charger plug being different shape, and running different voltages etc?

    This is what I'm after

Wow, that's very well priced. Get 2 of em!

There shouldn't be any issues, (other than the PSU) I'd tend to buy a new NZ PSU though, gets really annoying mucking around with adaptors and converters if you move it round a lot.

I'm not sure what would happen if it crapped out - may be worth giving Visual Group a call and seeing if they would fix it under warranty, cause having to send it back to the states would not be ideal at all.

They should ship internationally? I've never tried it.

Ha ha better not let SWMBO see your suggestion Wrat - she's already keen on getting one herself because it 'looks pretty' (typical female response!).

Yeah, the website says they only ship to addresses in the US etc etc.

Will do more research. Thinking about it, it probably makes more sense to wait for the Windows 7 version, so it'll play h.264 natively.

The are companies in the US who will act as a state-side address for you (for a small fee) and re-ship to you...

    x2.

That is a great idea. Give him an extra few $$ on top of the freight and he can take the missus out for a nice meal.

There is also a NZ shipping company Shipbuktu, that can create a US address and send to NZ post, if US supplier cannot ship to NZ...

Pays to get insurance, and check the type of shipping (UPS/FedEx -Airmail, surface mail, and if you want to track online, etc) - as some can take up to 8 weeks as I have found out (The cheaper the longer).

I have always considered Tigerdirect com...
