Make sure your computer time is right. That can stop access to some sites.

Try removing the battery & rebooting. If you can get a Bootable CD or DVD of HDD Regenerator that will tell you if you have any bad sectors or delays and can even repair a lot of bad sectors.

I think I may have sussed out the problem. MSSE reports error code: 0x80070643 which hopefully I will fix by reinstalling Microsoft .NET Framework when I can next access the computer...

I've learned that is the first thing to do after uninstalling Nortons, I always run the Norton uninstall tool twice - just to make sure. Sys restore was off and XP had all updates.

Have a computer here running Win XP which was sooooooo sloooowwww! Uninstalled Nortons which sped it up heaps. Installed & ran Malwarebytes it found and removed 46 trojans & virus's. Installed...
