    I have finally managed to remove the snap account: I did this in "mail". There is now no file listing for snap in "account Settings" and there have been no reminders since I did it yesterday.

    Thanks wainuitech, I have done as suggested, but just got back to where I was when I did as stated in my post. There is nothing to select to delete other than the default account.
