  1. Re: Sent iPhone X for battery replacement, Apple say it's been modified and returned

Apple hate repairing anything and will make as many excuses as possible not to, thus trying to sell you the latest one instead.

Your best option is probably a good third-party repair shop unless...

    Re: Another Rort...........

Does seem pretty stupid. But that's bureaucrats for you, they're all backwards and/or out of touch with reality.

Probably didn't want to allocate any of the budget to asbestos removal and in the...
  3. Re: Electronic Kit Suggestions for clever 7yr boy, real reviews please

I've tried that software and I don't like it.

I've simulated real, working circuits in it, only to have the software blow the components up and tell me the design was no good.

    (Good) simulators...
  4. Re: Electronic Kit Suggestions for clever 7yr boy, real reviews please

About that age I was given the Dick Smith Funway kitset and loved it (but I was already interested in electronics).

Jaycar's Short Circuits series is practically the same thing. (But Funway stuff...
  5. Re: Samsung 34" led Curved monitor repair? Worth it?

    Crack in the middle?

I see impact damage on the left hand side.

I doubt you'll get that fixed under warranty.

Best bet is to buy another broken monitor of the same model with a faulty...

Re: Basic file text too light.

You could try what I did in Windows 7. Don't like that awful, blurry Segoe UI font? Delete it! Windows has no choice but to use an older, actually readable font.

Now I mostly use Linux, and it...

If it's full of asbestos then fair enough, I wouldn't want anyone vandalising that and releasing it out into the air.

  12. Re: A good dishwasher repairman - recommendations please

Electrician also quoted replacement neon indicator lights (the bezels cracked apart in short order) at something insane like $60 each (WTF??)
I bought some generic ones from RS Components for ~$7...

Re: More OMG Tech Support Pics

That makes sense if they're still only rated the standard 10A (2400Watt) total capacity.

The tools would probably only be a couple hundred watts each, and also won't draw full power constantly, as...
  16. Re: "BIOS Has been reset" message on my desktop

You likely just need to replace the clock battery.

Size is typically CR2032 in desktops.

    Buy them just about anywhere.

Re: More OMG Tech Support Pics

Not so much of a problem unless they are under high load or overload. A bunch of small things like phone charger, lamp, printer, laptop, cordless phone, network switch, radio, clock etc is fine.
