  1. Re: Who might want an open reel tape recorder?

Who cares? If someone will pay for it...

Anyway, there's plenty of modern stuff that sounds garbage. Cheap speakers, low bitrate files, low quality gear.

    I'd prefer a 1950s HiFi system and...

Re: USB Type C Add on

Well, sure, for name-brand things, parallel imported etc is fine.

It's the generic no-name stuff on eBay that isn't always what it first appears.

Re: USB Type C Add on

    Wouldn't recommend eBay/Aliexpress...

Last time I bought a USB card from there, the bracket was misaligned due to incorrect manufacturing and bad PCB design.

The card had about a 7mm gap...

Re: Windows 11 Latest Tech Preview

I love the laptops where the HDD just slides out the side in a tray.
Most of them you have to take off a panel or remove the entire bottom of the laptop and sometimes take out secondary boards like...

    Re: Fibre Provider Reccomendations

Fair enough, my backups are a bit bigger than that. I currently have something closer to 500GB stored on Backblaze. From two laptops and several desktops, plus other miscellaneous files.

    Re: My Covid Record

The whole thing goes both ways too, or should.

    What?

Sought = "To try to discover"
Sort = "to arrange according to characteristics" etc

Sought makes more sense by definition, that's why it's the correct word to use!

    Re: Fibre Provider Reccomendations

20 Mbit upload is a bit lame these days, what with online backups etc. And worse than the 30Mbit I get on old VDSL!

I'd go for something with 50Mbit upload at least. Or just get a Fibre max plan...
