I'll relate as I remember it, bearing in mind it was three weeks ago.
The radio was powered up & the USB cable connected to it.
When I connected the other end to the PC, it instantly started a...
So it would be purely by coincidence all those systems fell over at the exact time I connected the radio to it.
Still waiting for a result on this.
PBTech have received the radio but haven't processed the claim yet.
I am curious about the damage to my PC's motherboard or CPU.
Would any of you...
But wait there is more.
The radio needed to be updated to be compatible with the current software, so I used an older laptop as a ginny pig to do the update.
Got through that ok but when I...
Another update.
Received the replacements parts today.
So connected the radio to the remaining usb ports.
Not an issue at all.
I have swapped over the motherboard & CPU & all is well again....
Do you think that would have avoided the problem ?
Just an update on this saga.
PBTech suggested I bring the PC & radio to one of their branches & they would look into it.
As the nearest is 440k's from my location & with the current price of gas,...
Yep that is another option that I am looking into.
Looks like I'll have to return this radio.
Juist waiting to hear back from PBTech

Couldn't get the wifi card to work on Win11, too old.

I've been hunting through my junk looking for a network card....
May be a bit late to try that now, I've made a few changes.
Opened the case.
Nothing obviously fried.
Pulled all USB cables except mouse, keyboard is ps2
I got the other monitor going by using...
I have several radios that I program via PC.
I received a new one today & proceeded to set it up along side the others.
When I connected it via USB to my PC, the PC did a instant reboot & came back...
Yes a bit too open ended for my liking.
I wouldn't know the total cost until after the initial purchase.
Ok the jury has returned a verdict.
I've canned the idea.
Thanks for the input team.
We've gone in a full circle.
This is the very reason I asked the question in the first place.
This is the type of issue I was concerned about.
Some people spend lots of money on motorcars.
I can't drive anymore, so are spending a small amount on something I can drive.
Amazon would be my preferred choice also but currently out of stock....
As In said, I'm looking at.
The item is unavailable in NZ & unlikely to be, according to the agents.
I'm looking at buying a radio online from the UK.
It will be in access of the $1000 limit, so will likely have to pay duty.
Any tips or advice from anyone who has done this ?
Things that may not...
Depends what it's going to be used for.
If it's for gaming, that card will soon heat up the inside of the case.
First casualty is usually the PSU getting too hot.
A new design case with bottom...
As wainuitech said for support.
It's the budget ones with thiner circuit boards and open fans that tend to twist.
Good quality ones are fine.
I've used long cards in the past.
They will sag or twist if you don't create some sort of support.
A bigger problem is they won't fit in most modern cases without surgery.
My last two gamming...
