    This has worked out ok & the system runs very quiet.
    There was no issue with temperatures, this was only about noise.

    It's still not happy at 144Hz, will drop back to 60Hz or lower...

    I have attached a DP to DVI-D active converter.
    I now have the option to increase frame rate up to 144Hz.

    I think I chose a good title for this thread.
    Just ordered a new PSU for this project.
    Got the new fan & GPU installed & was just connecting everything up.
    Woops, only one 8 pin PCI express plug....

    Probably should have mentioned in the first post, I have been running this current setup @ 144Hz for several years, so I know the DVI-D cable works ok.

    If only it was that easy.
    Tried a HDMI cable with my current GTX1080 set-up, comes through at 50Hz
    If I use a HDMI to DVI adaptor, it comes through at 60Hz

    I would agree with that.
    When I first built this system running a GTX970 it had only 2 case fans, one in & one out.
    Worked great, let the bios control the fans.

    I use the app, seems to work alright.
    Although, if you get a winning ticket you still have to take it to a loto store to find out what you have won.
