Re: Why is it called "The Boneyard"?

I don't watch westerns - I have very little time for Yank films. I'm a fan of British films and television. So that seems to be why I have not heard of it.:(

    Re: They are becoming ridiculous!

I'm with you, Clive. Why do they have to parade around making so much noise? As has been said previously in this thread, I'm not against them doing what they want in the privacy of their own homes,...

Re: Why is it called "The Boneyard"?

Thank you, Piroska. I had not heard that term before. I would have called it a scrap yard, particularly if it was for cars.

I know that. But you haven't answered the question. Why is it called the boneyard?

Why is it called "The Boneyard"?

There is a story in the news lately of the first Qantas aircraft to leave the Alice Springs Boneyard.

But why do they call it a Boneyard? I have seen an aerial shot of the area and there are many...

    Re: They are becoming ridiculous!

It may be natural in the animal world but society has said for millennia that poufters are unnatural and I don't think that there are too many people who would describe them as natural just because...

    Re: Indigenous?

I wonder who you refer to as "everybody"? The only ones I can think of who claim to be indigenous is the maoris and they are never too far away if there is a few million to be had.

    But I can't...

    Re: They are becoming ridiculous!

Yes, I don't understand that either. In any case, what's wrong with using the word "poufter"? Because that's what they are - queer. It's not natural at all.:waughh:

Re: I have no use for a cave man language

Very well said. I quite agree. I'm certain you are correct. It is only the very few - usually the ones that make the most noise - that are proficient in maori, but the majority are not. And you may...

It was a figure of speech. Anybody with any nous would have realised what I meant - uncivilised.:groan:

Re: What has happened to You Tube?

Thank you for that, 1101. I have been using Chrome so I tried IE instead and it seems to work alright there.

The other option is the dongle I have been given by a m8 which plays through the TV - I...

Re: What has happened to You Tube?

Thank you 1101. When I click on that it gives me about 20 videos all down the left side with very small text that I cannot read. It also goes to m.youtube.com so I'm not quite certain what to do.

What has happened to You Tube?

I have typed in www.youtube.com and it changes to www.m.youtube.com which is different.

In the old version it would bring up videos listed in their types, such as documentaries, comedy, music,...

Re: I have no use for a cave man language

I quite agree, BM. And it has been going on for years. One example is maori going to university. Europeans have to pay to go to university but not maori. You would have thought that that would...

Re: I have no use for a cave man language

It might belong to you but it certainly does not belong to me. It might be unique but I don't have or want any part in keeping it alive. It should be the maoris who want to keep it alive - not me....

And I think that you are right that you are "not about to start imposing them on others just to pretend to be clever." And I think that that has a...

I was not talking about maori names (as in towns or suburbs) I was talking about using maori words instead of English words, which many people do not understand. If you read my post fully, you would...

And it does not make any difference that it's an official language. NZ...

I have no use for a cave man language
