  1. Re: Question for the Linux gurus.... (PCI-E NIC causing all sorts of trouble)

Errr. I missed that too. Yes, the MAC address does not look right.
  2. Re: Question for the Linux gurus.... (PCI-E NIC causing all sorts of trouble)

Bahahaha. I googled and googled for that sort of thing but got nothing.
  3. Re: Question for the Linux gurus.... (PCI-E NIC causing all sorts of trouble)

It is using the via-velocity driver, which I have had no experience with. The driver seems to be up-to-date.

It should not be looking for an IPv6 router by default, or you should be able to turn...
  4. Re: Question for the Linux gurus.... (PCI-E NIC causing all sorts of trouble)

Your card is trying to connect to a IPv6 router ("eth1: no IPv6 routers present" in the dmesg). You don't have one do you?

Try looking at man led. If it is not in your manpages, look at this one from Debian.

    Re: Internet behaving weirdly

Those last two traces you posted had 192.168.100.33 as the fourth hop. It is an internal network address. That is not normal. Call Actrix and tell them about it.

That sure does look like a DNS problem.

    Re: Physics Question

Action-at-a-distance has nothing to do with this. The pole is a one-piece, continuous object. Action-at-a-distance would be used to try to explain something like the force between two discrete...

    No.

The atomic structure of the pole would permit some deformation and stretching, however slight, giving rise to a pressure wave. This wave cannot travel faster than the speed of light.

    As an...
