  2. Re: Easily switch between laptop and PC using same monitor

Another option is Stardock's Multiplicity tool. It's a software based KVM. You load the application on the computers you want to control. You set a master and a slave machine and as long as they are...

    Re: cpu cooler

That's not a bad unit, but given you're running an H310M it may be overkill (What CPU are you running?)

Your board only has 2 fan headers, 1 x CPU and 1 x chassis. From what I can tell this unit...

Re: FTP Proxy Static IP service?

    Two options really;

    1) get a static ip address from your ISP

    2) use a dynamic dns service such as noip.com or dyn.com etc.
  5. Re: Less RAM @ 3200Mhz or more RAM @ 2600Mhz... Which one?

Mostly a gaming PC, but I do some video encoding which is probably the most intensive out of everything I do.

I'll just chuck it in for now.. no harm no foul.

    Thanks for all the replies.
  6. Less RAM @ 3200Mhz or more RAM @ 2600Mhz... Which one?

A pretty "bland topic" but keen to hear some opinions...

    I currently have 16GB (2 x 8GB) of Klevv KD48GU880-32A160U BOLT X Gaming DDR4 @3200Mhz (XMP) installed.

    These replaced 16GB (2 x 8GB) of...
  7. Re: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard Bios Fubar'd

That old chipset is not really worth all the trouble you are likely to go through, unless Asus can repair for you at little or no cost.

You're probably better off getting a new or 2nd hand...
  8. Re: Windows Firewall Notification will NOT disable

    That's a wildly unsubstantiated statement?

Windows 10 like any other OS, has had it's fair share of issues. These however, have more to do with how users of the system perceive things to be done...
  9. Re: Windows Firewall Notification will NOT disable

NOD32 is only AV, if you've turned the firewall off, then the notification you're getting is actually valid. By default in Windows 10, if you disable the firewall but there is no 3rd party...

    Re: Vodafone Ultrahub DNS settings

Actually that's a good point... What is the OP's objective? Is there something you're specifically trying to do as in block certain website types and content?

You could try the UltraHub's Firewall...

    Re: Vodafone Ultrahub DNS settings

Not familiar with that unit, looks to be exclusively made for Vodafone.

You could look under the "Internet" or "WAN" settings to see the DNS config. Most ISP's do not allow their default DNS...
  12. Re: Windows Firewall Notification will NOT disable

Agree with Wai, I had something similar happen a few weeks back. In the end all I did was re-install the 3rd Party AV/Firewall and all the "Windows" stuff was automatically disabled.

    Might want to...

Yes, they are a good idea and good practice and yes Google as well as other search engines still use them for indexing purposes.
  14. Re: New laptop for school and gaming - advice please

Great point... he is probably better off getting a desktop. The current Ryzen CPU offerings are a much more attractive option as well. You could probably get a Ryzen based system with a 2080 series...

Re: VMware ESXi - Partitioning / Moving VMs

Just to add some further info... I don't think you can perform clones using the free version? I could be wrong, most of the posts I've seen talk about using the vSphere client to "copy" the vmx and...

Re: VMware ESXi - Partitioning / Moving VMs

Not familiar with the "free" version of ESX but if you're changing the installation location of the hypervisor you may have to start from scratch?

You could try cloning the current HDD to the USB...

Re: Backing Up - need help please

The generally "accepted standard" is the 3-2-1 rule.

You should have 3 copies of your data in 2 different "locations" 1 of which should be offsite.

Most people would not be in a position to...
