    Re: And....Finances now

So sad. As soon as B.M. and prefect join a thread, all sense and reason and compassion goes out of the window.
  2. Re: hows everyones internet holding up, slowdowns ?

I had one day, I think Monday, when everything slowed to an absolute crawl for several hours, then picked up and its been OK since. It started at about 9am, so I put it down to all the worker's from...

Re: I need a glue expert (no, not that sort)

Ordinary double-sided sellotape lasted until today - which isn't bad. I'll try getting some high-tack stuff once I can get to the shops again.

Re: Fibre getting connected (Hooray!) - questions

Chorus have called me and rescheduled the install for 12 May. Obviously not expecting the lockdown to be extended.
    I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Fibre getting connected (Hooray!) - questions

Well mine was supposed to be getting connected on Thursday, but I have zero expectation that it will actually happen.

Re: Fibre getting connected (Hooray!) - questions

That's good to hear. I'm with Actrix/Voyager, so maybe I'll go onto 900 (when I finally get connected).

Re: Fibre getting connected (Hooray!) - questions

I knew I was too optimistic. It ain't goin' to happen April 2, that's for sure.
I've had an email saying they will be in touch, but its going to be a while, that's for sure.

Re: Windows 10 --- Latest Tech Preview

Same here. I would have posted earlier, but I kept getting the "bad gateway" message.

Yes, I agree. I use the keyboard mute/unmute all the time. Post feedback!

Re: Fibre getting connected (Hooray!) - questions

The only slight unknown here is that when they were working in the street back in October they came onto the property (with my permission) with one of those horizontal drilling machines so they could...

Re: Fibre getting connected (Hooray!) - questions

You are quite right. I'm not actually particularly worried - just trying to cover all the bases in advance. Wot, me worry? (thanks, Alfred E Neuman)

Re: Fibre getting connected (Hooray!) - questions

If they can't get it through my conduit I'm not sure what they'll do. There is no fence, so I think they would have to dig a new trench. I'm reasonably confident they existing one will be OK though.

Re: Fibre getting connected (Hooray!) - questions

I did not want to hear that. :(
So what were they proposing to do? And why couldn't they use the existing one?

Re: Fibre getting connected (Hooray!) - questions

I'm certainly hoping they will run the fibre through the existing conduit. I'll be highly p****d off if they decide they need to do anything else. Which means there should be no damage, in theory....

Re: Fibre getting connected (Hooray!) - questions

    Thanks WT.
I knew about old fixed phones not working, and also that there will be no phone during a power outage, which seems to me to be a definite step back in technology. I have one old fixed...

Fibre getting connected (Hooray!) - questions

At long last fibre is coming to my house on 2 April - or so Chorus says atm. Questions:

Are there any general gotchas I need to be aware of - both for the installation and afterwards?
    They...

Re: I need a glue expert (no, not that sort)

There wasn't a problem with glue not sticking to the plastic keyboard. It was just the rubber pad that wouldn't accept anything. Even Ados just peeled off, despite thorough cleaning.

    The...
